Medelita & FemInEM Present: The Right Fit HIPster Awards

In order to continue our efforts to support and honor exceptional residents, medical apparel innovator Medelita and physician community FemInEM are delighted to announce our newest collaboration: The Right Fit H.I.P.ster Awards.

Medelita’s online H.I.P. (Honoring Inspiring Professionals) program was created with the goal of celebrating leaders in medicine doing great things. The HIP community is comprised of exceptional individuals who use their leadership and professional skills to improve the medical field. Similar to Medelita’s previous The Right Fit H.E.R.O. honorariums, The Right Fit Resident HIPster award is meant to reward “junior inspiring professionals” and recognize their efforts to improve healthcare. This year, Medelita has partnered with FemInEM to find these younger physician leaders of tomorrow, in alignment with the organization’s highly popular FemInEM Honors Section.

Contest Description & Application Process

 The Right Fit HIPster Award is intended to reward hardworking residents and celebrate their achievements. This year the contest will be centered on female residents in emergency medicine, an appropriate focus given the history and missions of both organizations to promote the development of women in this field.

Contest Mission:

Both Medelita and FemInEM seek to empower women practicing in emergency medicine, a particularly demanding specialty for medical professionals of any gender. Working in an ED has its own challenges and individual journeys are unique, and we feel strongly about giving these women an opportunity to make their voices heard even louder throughout the medical community.

The purpose of The Right Fit Resident HIPster Award is to recognize women residents who have identified a problem affecting physicians, patients, or their community, and who have done something about it.

Winning candidates will be chosen from an esteemed group of their peers in medicine, and each will receive a $500 gift to be used at the honoree’s own discretion, as well as a free, personalized lab coat & scrub set provided by Medelita.

How To Apply:

The Right Fit HIPster Award is open to any and all female residents, nationally and internationally, who are in an accredited emergency medicine residency program as of July 1, 2016.

Contest entrants have six weeks to submit their applications online at www.feminem.org. We will begin accepting submissions on July 1st, 2016 and applications may be submitted no later than August 15th, 2016. Submissions will be reviewed by a committee based upon the judging criteria laid out on the FemInEM website. 

Applicants should include the following :

• Personal statement
• Resume/CV
• One personally authored letter of support towards the stated mission of the contest (see above)
• Supporting documents (project outcomes, research papers, etc) will be accepted as attachments, but are not mandatory.
